Signs of Life

The perennials in my front flower beds have awakened after a long winter's nap.

The view from our deck is a beautiful blend of green and yellows all tangled up in the struggle towards the sun.

The (crabapple?) tree in our back yard is in full blossom. Every time the sun comes out it releases a fragrance that is completely arresting. Sitting on our back deck has become a spiritual experience. Waiting for the sun to return for the next breath of fragrance to blow my way.
As Rebecca says, "it is delicious!"

Yes, you are right...there is nothing as delicious as the spring. Well, maybe those long and lazy, hazy days of summer!

Meemers,
I have no idea what that yellow flower is but it comes back every year. It changes three times, comes up a little yellow circle, flowers (as you see it now) and then changes into star-shaped flowers later. And they have a powerful, beautiful smell.

What a lovely blog visit today. The beauty of nature, cute kids, and interesting reads (Indian Giver) all in one place. I can't believe you have such a backyard view in the city! Sweet!

You have a crabapple tree?? Lucky you! I think I'll invite myself over in fall.

Judi,
We MAY possibly have a crabapple tree, we're not sure. It blooms like crazy in the spring, and then no fruit?!?!
Option 1- it is a crabapple tree but had no other fruit tree around to fertilize it and produce fruit -which we have corrected by adding another tree.
Option 2 - it is a sterile variety crabapple tree which will never produce fruit.
Time will tell...

Either way, you may come over anytime!
:)

You are very lucky to have perrenials popping up everywhere. We have a clean slate over here. The last owners were not gardeners so it's a shame. Last year I was pregnant and didn't want to plant anything. This year I would like to try and plant some good beds.
